And our 2nd Winner Is...

Late last year, Flying Saucer made a major pivot towards focusing on Impact Brands -  companies that are looking to make the world a better place with their innovative tech, services, or solutions. To support that goal, we introduced the $10,000 Flying Saucer Impact Grant awarded quarterly to a startup that’s making waves, and getting ready to seriously disrupt their industry and change the world.

For this quarter’s grant, we’ll be collaborating with Content Cartel, a team of brand experts, creative writers, and eagle-eyed editors who will be handling messaging and positioning. All of this round's entries were astounding and made it quite a challenge to choose the winner, but alas, to quote the 1986 movie Highlander starring the late Sean Connery, “There can be only one.”

So, put your hands together for the winner of the quarterly $10,000 Flying Saucer Impact Grant (insert drum roll here):

Cellugy

Because of our over-reliance on non-biodegradable packaging, plastic pollution is one of the planet’s highest environmental concerns. Founded by Isabel Martos, Deby Fapyane, and Parun Sihombing, Danish biotech start-up Cellugy is producing a material with the same features as conventional plastics, but made from fully biodegradable vegetable sugars.

And it all started with a conversation at the grocery store.

More on that story later.
