We are very proud to announce the re-branding of Luos!

Ready to dive in? Let’s discover the results of the past few months of hard work.

First of all, let’s start with a quick introduction.

Luos is a French company based in Bordeaux, France. Their project is open-source and they offer real-time architecture services for designing, testing, and deploying embedded applications. For non tech-savvy people reading this, they basically make building hardware faster and easier like it would be for SaaS and web projects (because they are that good).

Recently, they’ve received Seed funding (congrats!), which was a great opportunity to rethink the brand, clarify the message and bring their open-source project to the next level.

Here’s a quick overview of our process that led to this new branding:

  • Market research and opportunities
  • Creating customer personas
  • A manifesto & key messages
  • Logo research process, colors, fonts
  • Building the brand

For this article, we’re going to talk more about building the brand.

#1. The logo and what it means

After lots of research and a couple of iterations, we arrived at the final version of the logo. As you can see, it was built from a lowercase and monospaced font. Is this important? For us it was, as the lowercase font is friendlier and the character of this font allowed us to carry over some unique aesthetics from developers' terminals and code.

That the brand be innovative and tech-focused was key to speak to this specific audience. All of this clearly emphasised the brand positioning. As you can see, the underscore leaves the mind thinking, “What are the possibilities when using Luos? What will you write next with Luos technology?”

#2. What’s behind the color scheme

For the color scheme, we drew inspiration from code highlight colors you find within various code text editors. By giving them this vibrant touch, it expanded the possibility of the brand within that industry.

Tomorrow, the green could be attached to a solution, purple to another feature, etc. Or, these colours simply bring diversity to the communication aspect of the company while still maintaining consistency, which is so important for brand awareness.

#3. The brand universe

We needed a clear and scalable way to explain the technology Luos is providing to their users, which is how we came up with a shape system directly inspired from the logo shapes. This allowed us to show off the connectivity that Luos provides its users and how simple and structured it is.

If you liked what you saw, feel free to book a call with us.

Please go give some love to the Luos team (they deserve it), and if you’re in the hardware business, then you should definitely book a call with them!
